Shri Anantakrishna Bhat Ji is a distinguished Ghananta scholar of Krishna Yajurveda, Taittiriya branch. He was born into a traditional priestly family in the Vitla region of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka.
His father was an eminent scholar of Krishna Yajurveda (Taittiriya branch) and an expert in Bodhayana Smarta rituals. Shri Bhat Ji began his early Vedic education under his father and completed his primary schooling in his village.
With a deep desire to study the Vedas thoroughly, he joined Sridhara Sangha Veda Vidyalaya in Varadapura, Sagara (Karnataka). There, for six years, he studied Krishna Yajurveda, Bodhayana rituals, poetry, and related subjects under Shri Vishweshwara Bhat Ji. At the same time, he also earned a postgraduate degree from Mysore University.
He studied Kramanta and Ghananta recitation under Vedamurti Shri Sundaresh Guruji and Shri Srinivasa Rangacharya Guruji, and studied Veda Bhashya (commentary) under Shri Venkatanatha Guruji.
Guruji is also a scholar of Mimamsa Shastra. He passed examinations in texts such as Nyaya Prakasha and Jaiminiya Nyayamala at the Kanchi Math. He further studied Purva Mimamsa under the scholar Shri Narayana Adiga Ji at Maharaja Sanskrit College, Mysuru.
Even during his student life, Shri Bhat Ji used to teach and guide his fellow students. Through his deep Vedic knowledge, he has enlightened the lives of many students.
He has also contributed to the publication and editing of important texts, serving the goddess Saraswati through his scholarship. He played a valuable role in the editorial committee of the book “Krishna Yajurveda Mantra Swahakara Vidhi.” He has also published useful works such as “Bodhayana Agnimukha Prakasha” and “Taittiriya Pratishakhya Prakasha.” Currently, Shri Anantakrishna Bhat Ji is dedicated to teaching the Vedas in Bengaluru, Karnataka. For his exemplary work as a Vedic teacher, Vedamurti Shri Anantakrishna Bhat Ji has been honored with the “Bharatatma Ashokji Singhal Ideal Vedic Teacher Award” for the year 2025.
